Frequently Asked Questions
-
A: After over a decade in hospitality, and six focused years in wine, I’ve experienced the full spectrum of client relationships; the good, the generous and unfortunately, the ones that undervalue independence and expertise. The Policy therefore needs to be firm.
The Policy is not just about pricing. It’s about respect, professionalism and autonomy; away from any form of permanent employment structures.
I unfortunately often find myself conversing with certain companies who mistreat and exploit the self-employed in various ways; both contractually and practise.
The Policy exists to make those boundaries transparent; it protects both us. It ensures clarity from the start, avoids mismatched expectations, and allows me to focus on delivering the exceptional experience my clients deserve.
If that aligns with your values, I’d love work with you. If it doesn’t, I completely understand and I wish you well in finding the right fit.
I’ve had enough of conversations that start with “we have a set pay rate” and end with me having to justify the value of my own work. After many years as a contracted PAYE employee, I became freelance to be my own boss, set my own standards and schedules, and ultimately charge my own fees.
-
A: As a self-employed professional, I charge my own rates. My rates reflect the value, expertise, and the tailored experiences I provide.
Fixed fee offers often don’t reflect the depth of service or flexibility I bring to the table, and are often unviable. I am unable to provide a high-level of service with your pay rates.
-
A: Absolutely. My client base is already wonderfully varied. I proudly welcome and celebrate clients of all identities and orientations. My approach to hospitality is rooted in respect, warmth, and professionalism for every individual I work with. Whether you’re booking a private tasting or hospitality experience, I will always create a safe, supportive and celebratory environment.
-
A: Whilst my website outlines a broad range of services I offer, I’m always open to unique opportunities and collaborations beyond what’s advertised. Over the years, I’ve been involved in a variety of bespoke projects, and I welcome creative or unconventional enquiries. Please don’t be discouraged by the somewhat corporate style of the website. If you have something specific in mind, I’d be delighted to discuss how I can tailor my expertise to your vision.
-
A: Yes, but only on a self-employed, independent contractor basis. I’m not available for employment-based roles or set-fee arrangements.
